Riyad as-Salihin

The Book of Virtues · Inducement to Perform Tahiyyat-ul-Masjid (Upon Entering the Mosque)

Arabic

- وعن أبي قتادة رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم‏:‏ ‏"‏ إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين‏"‏‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

English translation

Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him)reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When anyone of you enters the mosque, he should perform two Rak'ah (of voluntary prayer) before sitting." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was in the mosque, and he said to me, "Perform two Rak'ah prayer." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
