Humility during Prayer

Sunan Ibn Majah · Book 5 · Hadith 1045

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ ‏"‏ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لاَ تَرْجِعُ أَبْصَارُهُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

It was narrated from Jabir bin Samurah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Let those who lift their gaze to the heavens desist, or their sight will not come back.”
