Forgiveness granted by the oppressed person

As is referred to by the Statement of Allah: "Whether you (mankind) disclose (by good words of thanks) a good deed (done to you in the form of a favour by someone), or conceal it, or pardon an evil... verily, Allah is Ever Oft-Pardoning, All-Powerful." (V.4:149) "The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is with Allah; Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (polytheists, oppressors and wrong-doers). And indeed whosoever takes revenge after he has suffered wrong, for such there is no way (of blame) against them. The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth without justification; for such there will be a painful torment. And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives, that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. And whomsoever Allah sends astray, for him there is no Wali (protector, helper, guardian) after Him. And you will see the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors) when they behold the torment, they will say: Is there any way of return (to the world)." (V.42:40-44)
