Quran data sources and attribution

Every file below was acquired once during development, verified, and imported into this site's own database. The running website never calls a third-party Quran API and never scrapes another site.

Numbering convention

The whole dataset uses one convention throughout: Kufi (Hafs) ayah numbering — 114 surahs and 6,236 ayahs — with Madani Mushaf 604-page boundaries, 30 juz, 60 hizbs, 240 rub al-hizb quarters, 7 manzils and 556 rukus. All structural data comes from a single source file, so no two numbering or page conventions are mixed.

A note on Urdu surah names

The verified source dataset does not include a separate list of Urdu surah names, so that field is left empty in our database rather than filled with invented data. Surah names are shown in Arabic script, which is how they are written in Urdu too.
