Mishkat al-Masabih is a selection of hadith compiled by Imam Khatib at-Tabrizi. Imam at-Tabrizi expanded on an earlier selection of hadith named Masabih as-Sunnah by Imam al-Baghawi. Mishkat al-Masabih contains approximately 6,000 hadith chosen from the Six Books, Musnad Ahmad, and various others. It is a comprehensive selection of hadith that covers almost all aspects of Islamic belief, jurisprudence (fiqh), and virtues. The translation provided here is by James Robson.

وَعَن أنسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَتَتَرَّسُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِتُرْسٍ وَاحِدٍ وَكَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ حَسَنَ الرَّمْيِ فَكَانَ إِذَا رَمَى تَشَرَّفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَوضِع نبله. رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ
Anas told that Abu Talha and the Prophet (ﷺ) were both using one shield. Abu Talha was a good archer, and when he shot the Prophet (ﷺ) looked over and watched where his arrows went. Bukhari transmitted it.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم قَالَ: «اقْتُلُوا الْحَيَّاتِ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الْجَانَّ الْأَبْيَضَ الَّذِي كَأَنَّهُ قضيب فضَّة» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
